It’s been a while

July 21, 2009

I’m back and I’ll likely start maintaining this again. My secret before was that I was appointed the aid station captain for the Tunnel Creek aid station at the Tahoe Rim Trail 50k/50M/100M endurance races. I did that, it was a spectacular weekend. Congrats to all the runners.

I’ll post a bit more about that later. But, right now, my focus is being redirected a bit. I developed a spine fracture. While I haven’t gotten a diagnosis yet, all things appear to be pointing to pre-menopausal osteoporosis. This has come to me as a huge shock, as osteoporosis is supposed to be an old lady disease, a disease which does not run in my family.

I’m also finding that while there is some information out there for young women with this diagnosis, I’m not finding a lot of information or support. Maybe there is someone else out there like me, in their 30’s and dealing with this. Maybe I can offer some information that is hard to dig out elsewhere. Who knows. But mostly, hopefully I’ll be able to articulate all the things going on in my heart and in my head. Alas, more to come later.
